Another first. The following images show the first time this year that we have seen Fantail being fed by Fred. We used to think images like the first below were of the occupier warning the incomer off. We now realise that she is merely asking to be fed!
"What have you got for me?"
"Thought you might be hungry"
"Here - take it."
"Didn't I do well!"
There's no hanging about in the bluetit world - a second later Fred's off!
"See you later!"
Fluffy has caught us out! After several days in which she seems to have been more interested in destroying her nest than in building it, we have spent most of the day watching Fantail and Fred. However, a quick peek at Box2 before switching off for the night shows that significant nest building activity has taken place.
This is Fluffy's nest at 11.34 .. .. .. and this was it at the end of the day.
And we missed it!
Fantail considered roosting in her box again tonight, but eventually decided against it.
"Shall I stay here again tonight? .. .. .. No, time for some more fun yet!"
This took place as dusk was falling, at about a quarter to eight.
