Bluetit Diary    Jun 2003 (24)

Sunday 8th June (part 4)

Recently, the two chicks left have taken to cuddling up together next to the front wall of the box - a dangerous position if the woodpecker returns.  Now, though, they return to the nest cup for a snooze.

Sleeping it off.

Here they are at the front of the box again.

An hour later they are ravenous again.

There is always a frenzy of feeding after we have put mealworms out in their mealworm feeder.  Are they getting lazy or is there a real shortage of food?  Judging by the number of bluetit site disasters this year, it could be a real food shortage!

Let's hope the chicks fly tomorrow.
