Scrap has never lacked for courage and less than a minute later he makes it too.
(Scrap sits in the hole for a long time, sometimes flapping his wings, sometimes looking behind him back into the nest. At last we get a glimpse of his tail disappearing and the pattern of light in the box changes telling us that the last chick has flown the nest.)

Nearly an hour later, Fred had a 'senior moment'. He came into the box with some food - looked confused for a moment - and left.
"Stop messing about - come and take this mealworm!"
