Bluetit Diary    Mar 2003 (6)

Thursday 20th March, 2003

Fluffy has started coming down for mealworms first thing in the morning, much to our robins' disgust.  She came this morning.  She often returns several times, sometimes accompanies by another bluetit which we presume will be her partner, Flash.  One of these days we'll try to take a photograph of her taking one.  But no progress in Box2 today.

Well, at least more progress was made in Box1.  The following two images show Box1 at 7.30am and 6.06pm respectively - steady, but not startling, progress

The first image was taken at 7.30am and the second at the end of the day.

During the morning, Fantail was busy with nest building.

Here she brings hay - and later more moss.

Another beakful of moss.

"Now where shall I put it?"

"That feels good!"

The following sequence of shots was taken, automatically by i-Catcher of course, over a period of about 7 seconds.

This row shows Fred entering the box and just looking around him intently.  However, that's all the time that Fred is allowed to inspect progress before Fantail boots him out!

Look's good.

Bother, she's coming.

Oh, dear - I'd better go!

Perhaps if Fred did some of the work then Fantail would be more co-operative, but bluetits don't seem to work like that!

Just testing.

"Ooh, that's lovely!"

"Yes, its coming along nicely"
