Fred is back only two minutes later with some more food! This time he has a mealworm from our feeder.
In the first image, you can see Fantail moving aside so that Fred can see the chick. This may be the first time he has seen it.

Here Fantail seems to be waiting for Fred to come back.
Eventually, she gets fed up with waiting and leaves the nest.
