Monday 19th May, 2003

This morning Elizabeth has been worried because she feels that Fantail and her chicks have been behaving in a very much more subdued way than normal.  Are they sickening for something?

Here Fantail seems unwilling to take the food that is offered, and as a result Fred spends several seconds looking out of the nest box hole.  However, he finally persuades her to take it.

Fantail doesn't seem interested, but eventually she condescends to take it and feed it to the chicks.

Fred doesn't come for a while and Fantail occupies herself fussing around at the bottom of the nest.  A sole chick keeps hoping for food. 

"Where's that bird of mine?"

Fred has now given her some food and at least one chick seems interested.

At last Fantail goes out - only one egg visible.   In the second image, Fred can be seen trying to feed the chicks.
