Fantail and six chicks (just)
Fred with the chicks and a glimpse of an egg half way between the upper two chicks.
All seems to be well for the chicks in both boxes.
We haven't seen more than one egg ever since the last chick hatched out. Could a seventh chick have hatched and died that first night, or is the eighth egg hiding in the deep litter that is the nesting material?
The chicks are now getting too vigorous for Fred to pass food to Fantail for her to feed to them. If she's in the nest, Fred often waits until she leaves. Sometimes his coming into the nest seems to encourage her to leave straight away as in the following pair of images.

Immediately Fantail decides to leave.
Two of the chicks are still very pink!
