Bluetit Diary    Apr 2004 (36)

Sunday 25th April, 2004

Well, in spite of coming back to roost, Fantail is nowhere to be seen again this morning.  I have been in the garden for over an hour and could hear Neptune continually calling her.  At least his forked tail makes it relatively easy to identify a bluetit that one can see as Neptune!

Which again raises the question, what is Fantail up to?  Perhaps although she has finished the nest she is not ready to lay any eggs?  In these circumstances, what is a female bluetit to do?

At least Fluffy continues to incubate her seven eggs!  She went out for a few minutes break when I took this picture - she was back again shortly after.

She is also being looked after by Barney.  Here he is feeding her at twenty past eight this morning.
