Bluetit Diary    Feb 2004 (18)

Wednesday 25th February, 2004 (part2)

Here's Fluffy back again, twenty minutes later.  The time is now 8:42.  This, or earlier, is definitely the best time to get pictures outside the nest box!

Five seconds later she emerges like a bullet from a gun!  There's nothing inside the nest box so what caused the rush is a mystery.  You can see the fluff on her front though.

It is now nearly half past ten and the light is still good.  In some ways better as the shadows are not so harsh.

This is Barney again coming to the nest box hole.  He is the most attentive male partner of any bluetit couple that we have watched.  Clearly we are seeing much more of both birds outside the box because of the external camera, but with one pair a couple of years ago we wondered if we had a single bird going broody without a partner, so invisible was the male.

Barney has been perched on the nest box hole for ages (about 25 seconds!) evidently waiting for Fluffy who can be seen in the top left of the picture.
