Bluetit Diary    Apr 2005 (16)

Saturday 9th April (part3)

He stands on one spot as he examines all around him.  You can tell this is the male as the black band down his front (which you can't see in this shot!) is much wider in the male.

He stays there for ages, looking from side to side, out of the box ....

.... and towards the roof of the nest box.

Suddenly, we see from the outside camera that the female has arrived.

He crouches, as male bluetits also do, in case the female comes in.

Now he realises that she is not going to come in - we think they must be calling to each other - and starts looking around again.

Now it appears that he realises that she has gone completely away.

He goes up to the hole - presumably to call her to confirm what is happening.

After a while, he departs!
