The signs are good. We switched on at about a quarter past eight and at 8.24am we had another visit from the male.
Last night we had prevented Carlos from roosting, but would the great tits decide that they wanted to stay?
You can tell this is the male by the large black patch on its upper front and the broad black line down the middle of its chest.
He didn't stay long this visit.
I may have made the hole bigger, but it still looks a fairly tight fit!
At a quarter to nine, the male visited again, but didn't go in.
But he was serious. At 9.07 he entered the box again and came back once more at 9.33.
At 9.34, while the male was still inside, the female came to the box for the first time.
As with the bluetit, the male's response is to make himself as small as possible ....
.... and to leave the female to it as soon as possible!
Away he goes!!
