Is today the day for Kelly's chicks?

We started the camera earlier today - we didn't want to miss anything!

Kelly and Boris started their day even earlier than this and here Kelly is doing the honours.

She has recently become adept at feeding without entering the nest box!

A chick looks out for the first time today.  I always wonder how they make sense of what they see, having only seen the inside of their nest box before.

Another peek outside.  I'm not sure whether it is the same chick or another!

"No - I can't face it"

It's half an hour later before a chick has another try.

Mum can be seen outside offering encouragement - the parents are continually exchanging calls with the chicks from outside the nest box.

"Bye-bye you lot - I may be gone some while"

It appears to be quite common for the chick to look back just before it flies!

He's done it!  He's really gone this time.

The other chicks can't really believe what has happened and there is a temporary stunned silence in the nest box.
