Bluetit Diary    Dec 2007 (2)

Wednesday 19th December, 2007

Today was another bright sunny day!

A bluetit is back for another look - from a rather funny angle.

Oh look!  It's going inside this time!

As it went in, the bluetit swivelled around so that it stayed on the entrance hole the whole time.  Now it's having a good look outside.

I'm not sure what it is looking for.  All there is to see is the garden hedge, mainly hornbeam and holly, and over it, some 6 or 7 yards further on, is the side wall of our neighbour's house.

Now, what's he looking at up there?  Probably the other camera in the ceiling of the nest chamber.

And he's off.  I hope he found the site satisfactory.

A minute later he is back again.  This time there was no prolonged examination of the nest box before he entered.

Of course, it could be a different bird, but because it was so soon after the last visit and he appears more confident this time, I presume it is the same bird.

In properly this time too!

Ten seconds later and he's back on the hole.

And he's off!

Again, about a minute later the box has another visitor.  And this time there can be no doubt that it is a different bird - because this time it is a great tit!

The great tit didn't go into the box!
