Bluetit Diary    Feb 2009 (3)

Friday 6th February, 2009

The garden is still covered with snow but the brighter weather has meant that some of our birds are interested in things other than food!

Box3 gets a visitor.

He takes a closer look.

He spends several minutes fussing around and trying to decide whether to go inside the box.  Finally he does!

Inside Box3.

Having a look at the view!  (Which isn't much - there is a nice thick hedge about two metres away and then about 5 metres on the other side of that, the side wall of our neighbour's house!)

From the outside camera.

After a while he emerges, but he doesn't fly away yet ...

... he swivels around while holding onto the box by the edge of the entrance hole ...

... and has another look around him ...

... before deciding to go back inside!

Back inside the box.

As usual, he hops up to stand on the shelf that is inside just below the camera lens hole - which means he is too close to the camera for a good picture.  I hope that this shelf doesn't cause too many problems during the nesting season!

Here you can see him standing on the shelf.

"What's that up there?"

Something appears to have caught his eye!

Soon he is back on the hole again ...

... and then on his way!

I hope he has left with a good impression!
