Bluetit Diary    May 2010 (8)

Both sets of chicks seem to be developing satisfactorily.  Even Donna's three chicks appear healthy and vigorous.

Three gapes from Rosie's five chicks.  All the chicks look dark grey now as their first growth of downy feathers covers them.

The three unhatched eggs are visible here.  It is a wonder that they never seem to break, given the rough treatment they get from both Mum and the chicks, but I suppose that that would be such a disaster that evolution has made sure it doesn't happen very often now.

Will is still looking after Rosie and the chicks beautifully.

Even Donna's chicks are sprouting grey downy feathers.  Here are all three waiting for the next mouthful.
