I think the furry thing in the hole is a mixture of moss and feathers collected together during the fight.
It tries to fly free ...
... but is brought to a halt by its opponent, who still has hold of a foot.
It still can't escape.
It must be pretty desperate by now!
Finally it escapes. You can just see its wing tips disappearing at the bottom of the picture.
Who is this returning? Is this the original male who ran off at the first sign of trouble? Or is it the loser of the fight?
They seem friends, so presumably it's the former.
He doesn't stay.

As usual this year, I am totally confused. Who was involved in that fight? Was it Amy and Joe in the nest box originally, or have they been usurped by another pair? I think we will have to let things settle down and then decide to call the pair that eventually produces some chicks Amy and Joe.
Assuming that one pair of bluetits does succeed with a brood eventually!
