The action started at about half past 9 when a bluetit entered Box3.
We had only just installed Box3 when there was a fight inside it! Unfortunately, the outside camera was not yet operational so we missed the action outside the box.
Almost immediately, another bluetit followed it into the box ...
... and without further delay, the two birds started to fight.
Pretty soon they reached a deadlock in which each bird had the other by the legs. This picture was taken at 9:39, a couple of minutes after the fight started.
Twenty two minutes later they were still in the same position, without either of them having managed to break free.
Eventually, one of them broke free ...
... leaving the victor reeling on the floor of the box.
He immediately flies up to the exit to look for his opponent. Apparently, he could not see him because he than spent a little time looking inside the box to #make sure he wasn't hiding somewhere inside. He finally flew off a minute or so later.
