Of course these first pieces of nesting material are not for real.  They are just for fun and for something to do until it is sensible to think about laying the eggs for this year's brood of chicks.

By this morning, all the nesting material had been taken out again.

Here she (for the nests are built by the female without any help from the male) is again with another batch of moss.

After dropping the moss, she does a nesting wriggle.

But again, by the end of the day there wasn't much moss left in the nest box!
