Bluetit Diary    Apr 2019 (18)

Monday 22nd April, 2019

Ben starts the day with yet another feed for Bella.

And Ann has laid another egg!  She has now laid 10 eggs.  Will she exceed Bella's 11 eggs?

It's funny how sunlight in the box seems to endow them with an orange/brown colour.  It is an optical illusion.  when looked at in the cold light of day they look the standard cream colour with reddy-brown dots, mostly at the crown end of the egg.  You can hardly see any dots here.

Ann seems to be incubating more or less full time now.  Bluetits normally get incubation going gradually, but Ann has started more gradually than most!  She sat on the eggs quite a lot during both of the last two days.  It will be interesting to see what effect this has, if any, on when the eggs hatch - it could be spread over several days.

Another feed for Bella.
