Judging by the mess our rooster must have been a male - not such good news.

Females are programmed to keep the nest box clean as they roost in the box every night to keep the chicks warm when the they are little.  They only stop when the chicks get too boisterous to spend the night sitting on them! 

Clearly, they must keep the nest as clean as possible otherwise the chicks would suffer.

Otherwise, life goes on as usual.

This is the male leaving.

What's the female doing?

She's doing what females do the world over - clearing up their male partners' mess!

Our rooster is back again tonight.

As this is the end of the month, I thought I should update you about Box2.

As you see, absolutely nothing is happening there.  Still, there's plenty of time yet.
