Bluetit Diary    Apr 2020 (9)

Monday 20th April, 2020

It's not at all clear how many eggs there are here.  Four?

This later picture is not much better.  I think you can clearly see five eggs and the white blob on the left of the clutch could be a sixth!  However, if I was right to say there were exactly 4 eggs in this box on Sunday 19th, then this must be 5, not 6!  Bluetits (and birds in general) can only produce one egg each day!

This does look like six eggs.

It's good to see Drake looking after Daisy properly in Box2.

Another shot of the eggs in Box1.  Again, it looks like there are six of them.

At last Daisy has given us a good view of her clutch of eggs, the first one since the potential egg on 12th April.  This looks like 8 eggs to me.

Drake with another feed for Daisy.

And another!
Daisy has been sitting on her eggs for most of the afternoon.  I wonder if she is starting to incubate them?  If she is, she may lay one more egg tomorrow morning, but that will probably be her lot.  Nine would be a good sized clutch though!

Daisy hasn't left her eggs uncovered this time.

Another view of Chloe's six eggs.

Chloe hasn't been in the nest box much today.  She clearly is not yet incubating.
