We are becoming more and more interested in Scrap, the youngest of Fantail's chicks, and the only one who still has his ear tufts.  (By these, we mean the tufts of feathers that young chicks have sticking out of their heads where ears often are.  These tufts normally disappear before fledging.)

Scrap is a fighter.  Although Scrap is by far the smallest chick, Scrawny is now not easy to differentiate from the larger chicks, he is usually at the front of the queue for food and always makes his presence obvious to an incoming parent - with or without food!

On the left, Scrap shows that his gape is as big as the others - he is the chick at the top as he is on the right.

A couple if minutes later, Scrap has realised he is not in the best position at the back and moves to his usual position at the front.

Scrap in pole position.  On the right, a chick goes walkabout.  This becomes more common as fledging approaches.

A nice wing stretch while begging for food.  On the right, a different formation of chicks.

A nice family portrait!
