Bluetit Diary    May 2003 (26)

Tuesday 13th May, 2003

Today turns out to be an eventful day, although we did not realise this until the afternoon.  We noticed an interesting sequence first thing when Flash was busy at the feeder quite oblivious to the goings on around him.

Flash arrives at 8.25am  -  and selects a mealworm.

He stays there to process it in some way.  This appears to be to remove its head and chop it up into smaller pieces.

The robin could wait no longer and came down to collect a mealworm for himself.  Flash stood his ground.

Flash continued processing his mealworm.  Another robin came for a mealworm.  Again Flash waited.
