Again, Fred enters and Fantail asks Fred to pass her the food. He appears to do this but all is not quite as it seems.
In a similar sequence below, Fantail is not quite so persuadable but she does give way eventually.
Suddenly, he jumps over her and in the right hand image you can see that he still has the item of food in his beak.
Eventually, after about 12 seconds, she gets off the nest so that he can feed the chicks himself. He is rewarded with a faecal sac which he promptly removes from the nest.
