Tonight, we switched off the lights at just before 7.30pm (which means of course that we cannot take any pictures inside the nest box because they share the same power supply.)
Barney comes to see if Fluffy has been a good girl and gone to bed early.
As he is looking, Fluffy arrives and doesn't appear to take kindly to Barney's interference.
This rather messy picture shows Fluffy knocking Barney out of the way. You can see that it was taken a fraction of a second after the one above.
Half a second later, Fluffy lands on the entrance hole herself. Barney is nowhere to be seen!
Fluffy always seems a bit diffident about entering the box with the light off. When the box is lit, she bombs in straight away. However, even in these circumstances, when she has just knocked Barney off the hole so that she could go into the box, she does not rush in but checks the box out first.
After a good check, she enters for the night.
Barney was not seen again that night!
