Having surprised us by bringing in a white feather at half past five, Fantail now starts bringing in what looks like grey fur of some sort or other.
Perhaps it's the fur 'donated' by the black and white cat from over the road! (Its owner keeps the combings for us after every grooming session!)
Will this male bluetit never stop! It's now a quarter to six and Neptune is still bringing food for Fantail to eat!
And again, less than two minutes later. Fantail had better produce lots of eggs for this amount of devotion!
We think that Fantail must have told Neptune that she wanted to be left in peace as this was the last visit of the evening.
By half past seven, Fantail was looking as though she wanted us to turn off the lights, so we did so and let her go to sleep.
A last look at Fantail at about nine o'clock - fast asleep!
At a quick count, Fantail had made about 75 visits to the nest box during the day after we turned on at about 8 o'clock this morning. She had consistently brought in bedding material and had even started bringing in nest cup lining material for her chicks.
Clearly, she thinks her nest is more or less ready for the eggs!
Will she lay the first one tomorrow morning?
