Tuesday 11th May, 2004

The chicks are steadily coming on.  Not only are they greeting the arrival of food with faint cheeping, but you can see their pink skin is slowly being covered by a dark grey growth of feathers and fluff.

Here is the obligatory picture showing that we still have all seven chicks!

This picture, and another at the end of today's entry, shows poor Barney's head feathers - or lack of them!  He is now completely bald above the neck, an extreme version of a common happening at this time of year.

Compare this with pictures of Barney in February and early April as shown in these two images!

This shows Fluffy's head feathers.  She shows no sign of this problem.

Who's this looking at Box1?  

The great tit did not enter but seemed to look long and hard.

Poor old Neptune is still constantly around and can be heard calling for hour after hour.
