Another egg for Babe today - but otherwise nothing special to report.

This is one of our first pictures of Kelly this morning.  The time is 6.22am and she is leaving the nest to stretch her legs!  Whether this is the first time she goes out we cannot tell but rather doubt it.  Still, the days will start even earlier soon once the chicks have hatched!

What's going on here?  Kelly is alert and spreading her tail in a most aggressive manner.

Ahaa!  She could obviously hear the grey squirrel on the roof of the nest box.  Still, I think she is quite safe from squirrels inside.

Babe now has 4 eggs - she seems to spend quite a lot of time sitting on them, although I'm sure she hasn't finished laying yet.  Great tit clutches are normally between 8 and 13 eggs according to my Collins Field Guide, but our experience is that we normally get a clutch towards the lower end of the quoted range.

Boris continues to look after Kelly, bringing food in sporadic bursts.  Perhaps, like most of us, he is easily distracted by more interesting things.

Lastly, another look at Babe's eggs.  These are noticeably bigger than bluetits' eggs.  Not surprising as a great tit is a larger bird!
