Quick as a flash, Greta goes inside.
Greta may have chivvied the bluetits away this time but she and Gustav are starting to worry us. The nest has been completed for some time now and Gustav is rarely to be seen. Will Greta ever start laying any eggs?
We have had a great tit pair for three years now, but none has been as interesting or successful as the average bluetit brood. Perhaps next year we will revert to the smaller hole size again and keep great tits out!
Great tits appear as stolid, unexciting birds whereas bluetits are always up to something. Just compare Abby and Fay with Greta!
