Bluetit Diary    Apr 2008 (6)

Monday 14th April, 2008

We are wondering if this is Sally's first brood.  She has all the energy and general fussiness of a first timer!

But before we get to Sally, We thought you might like to see this picture of Abby (or Angus?) coming to their nest box.

Sally is doing a bit of housekeeping.

A push here ...

... and a shove there ...

... helps to get the nest cup into shape.  (And perhaps also makes Sally feel she is doing something!)

This burst of wifely activity deserves a reward - and here comes Joe with some food for Sally.

Joe passes the food to Sally without too much reluctance.  Can it be a mealworm again?

Well, perhaps a bit of reluctance!

Joe turns to depart ...

... leaving Sally to enjoy her tit-bit ...

... by herself!

That definitely deserves a wriggle!

Sally seems to go into a veritable paroxysm of wriggles!

She must be a first timer - he has only fed her once today as far as we can tell!

This ecstasy of delight seems to go on for ages.

There are lots more pictures like this - but I think we have made our point!

Sally is in the nest box so late - it is now half past seven - that we wonder whether she will roost in the box tonight ...

... like Gelda, who is doing her boring great tit thing, and just roosts every night without fuss or bother.

But no.  At 7.50pm, the nest box is empty.  Not yet!
