Will this be the last post of 2007?
Well, I thought the wood shavings were a good idea - I'm sure nesting places in the wild will not be as Spartan as our bird boxes are after they have been emptied and cleaned in the early autumn - but this bluetit has other ideas and is starting to remove them!
You can see the piece of wood shaving in her beak.
After only 6 seconds, she was back inside the nest box.
She collects another shaving ...
... and flies out with it!
She carried on like this for some time and by the time she had finished for the day, there were noticeably fewer shavings on the floor of the box.
