Bluetit Diary    Jan 2008 (1)

Wednesday 2nd January, 2008

... and I've only just got used to writing 2007!  Well it may be a New Year but the bluetit in Box2 is still removing wood shavings!

Here's one more shaving being taken to be dropped somewhere outside!

Thursday 3rd January 2008

Just as we switched on today, an interesting sequence was being played out in Box2.

Enter bluetit.

(Unfortunately because we were late turning on this morning, I can't show you any good external pictures yet as the cameras are still misted over by the overnight frost!)

Is he listening to something?

This bluetit is obviously expecting his partner to join him in the box - he is crouching down in the typical pose adopted by the male when he expects his other half to pay a visit..

This male is rather impatient - he already appears to be asking what's kept her.

Well, the female is still there, but she doesn't seem to be in a hurry to go inside.

"Come on - what's the problem?"

Are they talking to each other?  If they were you can imagine the conversation!

"Is it any good in there?  Would it make a nice nesting place?  Do you really like it?"

"Humph!"

"Alright - I'm coming!"

The male crouches down again.

Has something caught her attention?

And suddenly, the female disappears!

Perhaps there was some disturbance in the garden - perhaps she just changed her mind - who can read the mind of a female bluetit!

"Where are you then - what's happened?"

"Come on then - stop messing about.  Where have you got to?"

There was no reply and so the male left too.  This was the last shot in this sequence that the system captured.
