Bluetit Diary    Feb 2008 (1)

Sunday 10th February, 2008

The new camera is working well, but I felt that it should be located rather closer to the nest box hole as it is with the other two boxes.

Yesterday, I therefore took the camera down, adjusted the focus slightly so that it would focus on nearer objects, and remounted it again.

This is the view we now get from the new camera.  All we want now is a bluetit, or even a great tit, to pose for us!

This spring-like weather is giving our birds a wrong idea of what time of the year it is.  Today has been warm (13.6°C) and sunny.  The birds around Box2 have been playing games again.

One of the pair, probably the male, has entered Box2.

He spends a little time looking around him.

Suddenly he crouches as he hears his partner approaching.

In she comes!

And off he goes.  They were both in the box together for a fraction of a second!

Now it's the female's turn to have a look around.

Soon she hops up to the exit hole to have a look outside.

Interestingly, she has a small fluffy area on her right hand side - just like Fluffy used to have.  Could she be one of Fluffy's descendants?

After a short while looking outside, she left.
