Bluetit Diary    Mar 2008 (7)

Monday 17th March (part2)

The bluetit in Box2 is still playing at nest building.

This is looking more serious - a nesting wriggle (right winged variety!)

Now the left wing!

This picture shows both birds in the box.  Normally, the male goes into the box first and when the female follows, he exits so quickly that all you get is a blur.

This time the camera caught them during a brief pause, giving us a clear picture.

This is later and the female has brought in hay rather than moss.

Another wriggle.

Now some moss again.

Yet another wriggle.  The female is clearly getting broody.

More moss - quite a lot this time!

Ah well - perhaps I was jumping to conclusions too quickly.  Here she is taking some of the moss out again.

At the end of the day there didn't seem to be much more nesting material in the box than there was at the beginning!
