Freda has been spending more time in Box3 recently.  Here Ken brings her what looks like a big fat green caterpillar for breakfast.

Freda now has 4 eggs.  That's one each day since she started laying.  What a pity she has chosen to lay them on the lower end of the ramp!

This means that we cannot see the nest cup properly from the side camera, and the bottom of the nest cup is often the wood of the ramp itself!

This picture clearly shows Freda's eggs lying on the wooden ramp.  Poor chicks - I hope they won't get splinters!

I suppose that birds like to lay their eggs well away from the entrance hole.  Perhaps next year I should move the hole to the ramp end and hope that that will encourage the birds to lay their eggs in the deep part of the nest box.

Sally and Joe continue to look after their chicks.

We can't decide exactly how many chicks there are!  This picture clearly shows 8 beaks of which 6 are gaping open.

I am convinced that this shows 10 beaks - nearly all of which are closed.  At least the fact that the chicks' beaks are yellow makes them fairly clear.

Time will tell whether there are indeed 10!
