Sunday 11th January (part2)

Again, he goes into the box.

Inside the box, nothing has changed.

Here he is crouching down.  He clearly expects the female to follow him inside.

Here you can see the cause of his optimism.  This shot was taken at the same time as the one above and shows the female on the roof of the box peering inside it.

They are probably calling to each other as well.

At last she decides to follow him and perches briefly on the entrance hole ...

... and finally takes the plunge and goes inside.

The male is the bird at the top of the picture and the female the one below him.  Unfortunately, there are not yet any clearly distinguishing marks to tell them apart, so we will have to rely on their behaviour as a guide to which is which!

As usual, having enticed the female into the box, the male doesn't hang about and get in the way.  He leaves immediately - they are together in the box for less than a second!

The male departs!

The female appears quite at home in the box.  She has a brief look around - here she appears to be examining the construction of the wall of the box!

However, she doesn't stay long ...

... and less than 20 seconds after the male ...

... she leaves!

Still, this was the first time this season that we have had two birds together inside any of our three boxes.
