Bluetit Diary    Mar 2009 (9)

Friday 13th March (part2)

Five minutes later she is back again.  Is this the same moss or is it a different lot.  We have so much in our lawn that we wouldn't miss that amount in a million years!

That doesn't fare any better.

Away she goes with it.

For the next few minutes she is behaving like a veritable yo-yo - she's in and out in a trice!

This picture is only seven seconds after the one above, but in that time she has been back and decided to leave again!

Back to Box1.  Here is a bluetit leaving the box.

It turns in mid-air ...

... and lands on the roof of the box.

Back for another recce.

What will happen in Box3 this year - a nuthatch perhaps?

They are beautiful birds! ...

... and they have fearsome beaks!

Bella is well into nesting wriggles nowadays.

She has her own special style, first one wing ...

... then the other ...

... and then landing in a heap in the corner!

In spite of all her efforts, Bella is making absolutely no progress

Don't let that beak full of moss fool you - she won't let it stay in the box for long!

See - there's no sign of any moss here!  She will probably take out the hay shortly too!

There it goes!

Roll on April!
