Just a quick update!

Now that Fay is occasionally showing her eggs, I thought you might like to see the latest picture of her nest.

It looks as though there are seven eggs in it!

Sunday 3rd May, 2009

Bella's eggs have started hatching!

At eleven minutes past 12, Bella's eggs all appear to be in one piece.

Just eight minutes later, we see the first picture of Bella with eggshell in her beak.  Her chicks have started hatching!

Four minutes later, Bertie comes into the nest box as normal with a mealworm for Bella and we catch our first glimpse of the recently hatched chick.

Bertie immediately cottons on to what has happened and forty seconds later is back with something more chick friendly than a full sized mealworm.

He appears to go into overdrive and comes back repeatedly with more food ...

... appearing to take barely a minute each time to find another suitable morsel.

We have the impression that the supply of food is much better this year than it has been for the last two years.

This continues for some time, and on some visits Bella lets Bertie see the hatched chick, still at this time the only hatchling.

Thirty minutes after the first chick hatched, we still have only one hatchling.

More chick sized food brought in by Bertie.
