Saturday 9th April, 2011

This is the first of three pages page summarising the nest building progress of Amy, Joy and Zoe.  We start with Amy's nest box. 

Box1 was the first of our boxes to have any nesting material brought into it.  This happened on 24th February, well ahead of either of the other two boxes.  However, for some time after this, not a lot happened!

On 24th February, Amy started bringing nesting material into the nest box.  This looks pretty serious to me!  So much so that she had quite a struggle with this lot.

When she finally gets into the box, you can see why!

The trouble is, a month later nothing more has happened!  This was taken on 24th March.

However, on 26th March it looks as though she is getting going again.

That's quite a large amount to get into the nest box.

By the end of the day, you can see a noticeable difference.

A week later, and there is still lots of floor showing.  This was taken on 1st April.

It is now 6th April and eventually, Amy seems to be getting there.  The last patch of bare floor appears to be covered.

Finally, coming right up to date, Amy has decided that her nest is finished enough for her to start to roost in it overnight.  This was taken at the end of the day today ( Saturday 9th April).
