Will any more of Becky's eggs hatch today?

Still only three chicks!  What on earth is happening to this clutch?

I know Becky's incubation was pretty intermittent to start with, but I don't believe that this explains everything!

At last!  Another of Becky's eggs has hatched.

This time Becky eats the egg shell.

I wonder why the hen sometimes eats the egg shell and sometimes just removes it from the nest box.  In Jess's case, she seemed to eat all the egg shell until she had eaten so much in such a short time that she could not cope with any more.

That's clearly not relevant here!

So now Becky has four chicks - though one looks very small!

I think this is Bob, trying to feed the chicks himself.

Jess's chicks have survived another night.  Here James is feeding one with a little green caterpillar.

No more of Becky's eggs have hatched today.  I find it difficult to believe that there will be many more hatching in the future either.

One of the chicks - the one to the right of this picture - looks very small.  I wonder whether it will survive?
