I don't think she knew either - she appears to have just dropped it beside the nest cup. Perhaps she just liked the colour?
So much for thinking the today would be the day of the big hatch. Not a single extra egg has hatched during the whole day.
However, Becky still has three chicks so it's not bad news either!
