This morning we've had another visit to Box1 from the woodpecker. Fortunately, he again could not reach the chicks.
Again, he did not stay long or appear to try very hard to get into the box by making the hole bigger.
Here it looks as though something has disturbed him.
The chicks in Box2 are growing up fast. Just look at this chick's wing feathers.
A mini wing flapping session, though it is not clear whether this is just begging for the food that Mum has just brought in, or a real flap to get the wings stronger.
Anyway, I think we can record it as the first vigorous flap of the season!
