Today the eggs in Box2 started to hatch!

The chicks in Box2 must have heard me express my worries yesterday about their not hatching.  This was the sight that greeted us first thing in the morning.

It looks as though 5 chicks have hatched out so far.

Judging by the shell in Sally's (or is it Scruff's) beak, another egg has hatched.

Sam appears to have got the message.  Let's hope he keeps it up!

Here he is passing something to Sally.

Whatever it is, it's very small!

No sign of the eggs in Box1 hatching.

All three birds in Box2.  They seem to be amazingly co-operative.

And again.

This time they appear to be having a bit of a disagreement about who should actually feed the chicks.

This argument goes on for several seconds ...

... and in the end it looks as though it is Scruff who feeds the chicks and Sally who is keeping a close eye on what is happening.  There's no storming out of the nest box in a paddy here!

This is the third time Sam has brought food to the nest box in less than 10 minutes.

Keep it up Sam!

I think 7 chicks have hatched out so far.  There are lots more to hatch yet!

Sam comes with another feed for the chicks.

And again.

I think there are now 8 chicks.

At the end of the day, both Mums are roosting in the nest box as usual.

I wonder how many chicks will have hatched out by the morning?
