There are now four eggs I think.
There are now four eggs I think.
Oh no! Lucy is back!! I had hoped that as there hadn't been any sign of her since Monday 8th, she had decided to get a life and leave poor Sooty alone.
No such luck!
Now she's inside the nest box and is collecting more nesting material to remove.
It's now half an hour later and there has been no sign of Sooty. I hope Lucy leaves the eggs alone.
So far she seems to be concentrating on just collecting the nesting material...
... and removing it!
Off she flies. I wonder what she does with it.
Five minutes later she is back for more.
Away she goes again.
The last picture of Lucy above was taken at about 10:15am and during the rest of the day, Lucy frequently came onto the nest box entrance. However, with one exception she failed to go into the box, and even on that occasion, she did very little before leaving again.
During the whole of this period, there was no sign of Sooty who finally appeared at 10 past 4 when she made a brief appearance as evidenced by this picture. I'm sure she came back later to roost in the box, but by that time I had turned the system off. I find it remarkable that she seems so unworried by Lucy's interference.
