Bluetit Diary    Apr 2005 (23)

Monday 11th April (part3)

Now that Kelly has finished her nest in Box2, there is not so much to report.  Today, though, we have some lovely images of her leaving the nest box, so I thought you might like to see some of them.

Kelly is still bringing the odd bit of nesting material to the box.  However, she often takes some out of the box too, so things don't seem to change much!

She no longer seems quite as frenetic.  Here she has put down whatever it was she brought in and is looking out of the hole.

I don't suppose that bluetits appreciate how beautiful they can look in flight!

This time as you can see, she is removing something or other.

Boris keeps in touch with her regularly.  He often comes to the box and perches briefly on the entrance hole.  I think he must be checking to see if she is there.  If she isn't he often leans back and look around for her.

If he does not catch sight of her from there, he flies up to the top of the box for a better look.

This is a complex looking aerial manoeuvre, but not very elegant!

Here he spends some time calling and looking around.

Kelly appears to have a good partner here!

Here is Boris again, looking after Kelly as usual.

Finally, at the end of the day, here is Kelly settling down for the night.
