Bluetit Diary    Feb 2007 (8)

Tuesday 20th February, 2007

Here's the bluetit again.  I suppose he is hoping that the great tit has been caught by our local sparrow hawk!

He's getting bolder as time passes.

Oops! Someone's coming!

"Out of the way.  This is my box!"

The great tit appeared out of nowhere and went straight into the box.

Over in the BBB, the bluetit there is getting quite agitated about its own image in the glass.

This is what it looks like from above - much less dramatic.  Though both pictures were taken at more or less the same time.

I really must try to think of some better method of keeping the bluetit and the camera apart!

Back in Box1, it looks as though the great tit thinks that Spring has arrived.

Well - that looks like some moss in the great tit's beak.

Or should I say in her beak as this must be the female, as males do not help with the building of the nest.  (Unless you consider the bringing of the occasional morsel of food to the female is helping to build the nest!)

Then with a flick of her head, she scatters the moss across the floor of the nesting area.

Well, that was not the start of anything grand.  It was the only piece of nesting material brought in all day.

Still, a start has been made!
