We had another early start today. Perhaps it was not a good idea as the news of Fay's chicks was not good.
This looks like another dead chick that Fay is removing from the nest box. What on earth is causing all the chicks to die?
During the next few minutes, Fay removed another two dead chicks from the nest box and dumped their bodies some way away.
At twenty past 10 there still seems to be one or two chicks alive and a possible dead body still in the nest cup. Also, now there is only one unhatched egg!
Just over an hour later there is now only one chick left and one unhatched egg. Ominously, a bluebottle is crawling over the nesting material. The chick you can see does not appear to move and is possibly dead too.
Turning to brighter things, Abby's chicks all seem to have hatched - and they appear as a writhing mass of pink bodies.
