Positive news in two of our boxes for a change!  Sally's eggs have started hatching and Freda has laid her first egg!

At 6.23am, Joe brought some food for Sally.

It was only when instead of eating it, she started delving around beneath her that we realised that she was trying to feed a newly hatched chick!

Joe has suddenly become a dutiful father - he brought food every couple of minutes around this time.

You can see that several chicks have hatched in this image.

A piece of eggshell - another chick must have hatched!

Sally, the bird at the top, watches as Joe tries to feed the chicks himself - a very useful skill for him to have so he can do it when she is out collecting food herself!

More eggshell!

At least 4 eggs still to hatch.

By the afternoon, most of the eggs have hatched.  From the picture it looks as though there are at least three to go but the bulk of the chicks are out!

The final piece of good news concerns Box3.  After a slight adjustment to the camera position, you can now see that Freda has laid an egg!  Let's hope for some more over the next few days.
