
I thought Meg must be roosting in the nest box my now. I therefore briefly turned on the light at 10:45pm to see.

Meg's looking agitated. There must be something outside that is exciting her.
Oh my! She must think it's serious!
It's a nuthatch! Meg doesn't realise it, but there is no way the nuthatch could get into the box through the nest box hole. It's far too small and has a protective metal plate making it difficult for even a woodpecker to get inside that way.
This is the first time we have been able to see any of Meg's eggs. She appears to have 4 of them, so the first one must have been laid on April 10th.
